Livestock Farmers
Livestock farmers are exposed to animal danders, disinfectants, and other chemical substances, organic feed particulates, bacteria originating from feces, and such gases as NH3 emanating from manure.(6) Workers may experience long-term, low-dose exposure to ammonia (NH3) (19) and, in the same facility, they could be exposed to potentially lethal concentrations of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from manure pit gases.(6)

Crop Farmers
Farmers and other individuals involved in agriculture have potential inhalatory exposures to a very wide range of agents: inorganic dust from the soil; organic dust containing microorganisms, mycotoxins, or allergens; decomposition gases; pesticides; etc.(6)

Coal Miners
Charcoal dust exposure over a lifetime of employment could translate this into a substantial loss in lung function. The dustiest tasks and sieving were predominantly performed by female workers, possibly because these tasks required less physical strength. Increased respiratory symptoms with increased dust level suggests that charcoal dust exposure has dose-dependent respiratory effects. (9)
